Do you ever just suddenly crave brownies? It probably happens once a week for me, so these small batch nutella brownies are on repeat! They are ready in around 30 minutes so you don’t even have to wait that long before you can dig in.

Why you’ll love these brownies

  • Quick and easy – curb your chocolate cravings with just one (or maybe three) brownie slices within the hour! Even less if you can’t wait for them to cool off after they bake.
  • Topped with nutella! Just when you thought brownies couldn’t get any better… Adding nutella on top gives each bite that perfect hit of nutty sweetness.

Ingredient notes

  • Let the melted butter and chocolate cool before you add it to the batter. You don’t want this to start cooking the egg once you add it.
  • To ensure a crinkly brownie top you want to whisk the sugars and egg for at least 2 minutes. The batter should look light & bubbly.
  • Gently fold in the dry ingredients and don’t overmix the batter. After adding it to your baking pan, level the brownie batter with a small offset spatula or a spoon.
  • Spoon dollops of Nutella on top of the brownie batter, and swirl it with the same offset spatula or the handle of your spoon.

Baking tips

You will want to pre-line your baking tray, as the brownie batter shouldn’t rest for very long once it comes together. That will make a cakier brownie instead of a deliciously fudgy one.

Set your timer to 13 minutes at first so that you don’t over bake the nutella brownies. To check for the right consistency, give the pan a little jiggle to make sure the centre is baked. If needed, place bake in the oven for another 2-3 minutes.

How to store nutella brownies

Because these are small batch nutella brownies they’re so easy to store! Simply place them in any airtight container you have and they will keep for up to 5 days. They are best eaten within 3 days, and are delicious if you place them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds before eating them.
